I favor the plastic pan, because it is rust and corrosion proof. A typical pan, two to three inches deep, measures from about a foot, to a foot and a half in diameter at the top, and several inches less in diameter at the bottom. Modern pans are made from metal or, more recently, from plastic. Older gold pans were produced by machines from metal or fashioned by hand from wood or even cow horns.
It helps to locate gold deposits and to check the value of gold ore being processed. It's the first and the last tool used in gold prospecting.
The gold pan is the most necessary tool for new prospectors and well seasoned old pros.
